Outdoor Concerts

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is go to outdoor concerts.  I love grabbing some ice cream, laying on the grass, and listening to my favorite tunes.

Tonight and tomorrow night I'm going to two awesome concerts to see five amazing bands play.  I'm beyond excited!

Tonight I'm seeing...

Sublime with Rome

311

Tomorrow night I'm seeing....

Parachute

Michelle Branch

Goo Goo Dolls

I'm beyond excited for all of these bands.  It's a great start to my birthday weekend! I'll let you know how they are live!

----
We're in the middle of a major heat wave right now, as I know a lot of the country is.  I work all day tomorrow and it's suppose to reach 105 degrees!  Everyone drink a ton of water and stay safe! xo

Phish Concert

Tonight I'm suppose to be going to my first outdoor concert of the summer!
{We also have a tornado watch in affect right now so I'm hoping that the weather is okay!}

My friend Stephanie and I are meeting up with friends to see Phish!
I cannot wait I'm so excited!  It's bound to be a great concert!

In case you have never heard of Phish, I highly suggest you check some of their stuff out.
Have a listen and let me know what you think! xo

Do the Shuffle

I saw this on another blog, and I thought it was a cute way to get to know other blogger's!
The point of it is to set your Ipod on shuffle and write down the first 20 songs that play.
I think it's fun because it gives you a chance to see my handwriting and to see some of the very {random} music I listen to.

Sorry for the weird lighting.
The shuffle list if you can't read it is:
1) heart of glass- blondie
2) do the panic- phantom planet
3) coastal break- tycho
4) the girl you lost to cocaine- sia
5) the heart of the matter- india.arie
6) baba o'riley- the who
7) norway- beach house
8) under my bed- meiko
9) through your eyes- the honey trees
10) i'm not over- carolina liar
11) borderline/ open your heart- glee cast
12) daniel- bat for lashes
13) the hazards of love 1- the decemberists
14) i wanna dance with somebody- whitney housten
15) can't go back now- the weepies
16) stranger love- ghostland observatory
17) tailor made- colbie caillat
18) fall in love- estelle and john legend
19) use somebody- brooke white
20) don't let me fall- lenka

If you decide to play along, leave a comment with the link so I can check it out.
And no cheating!  Write down the first 20 songs! I mean come on, I have "Glee" music on mine.  We all have those songs we don't want anyone to see :)

Have a good friday!  xo

MC Yogi

Ruth posted this link on her blog today, and I became instantly obsessed.

MC Yogi is yoga inspired hip hop music.
As you know, yoga is one of my passions, and I believe that much like yoga, music can be a spiritual and meditative tool to our happiness.

The music the MC Yogi has created is perfect.  It's a mixture of traditional yoga chants, with hip hop beats that make it modern and energetic.

enjoy!  i have another awesome giveaway coming up tomorrow :)
and since i completed two of my four midterms today, and have no midterms tomorrow, i'm taking the night off! xo

Concert to Fight Domestic Violence

on Sunday night, my good friend Grace hosted a huge concert to help raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence.

over 250 people attended, and $10,000 were raised for 180, Turning Lives Around

I'm so incredibly proud of Grace for putting this all together and I'm so happy I was able to come and see the concert.

it was absolutely amazing!

the lineup of the concert was:

Eric Reitz
Matt Wade
The Tor Miller Band
The Quincy Mumford Band

All of those bands are local bands.
The Tor Miller Band is extra special to us because the entire band goes to our school!
Last year they won a contest that let them play at a huge musical festival called Bamboozle with some awesome bands such as Matt and Kim, Paramore, MGMT, Drake, and Weezer!
They're THAT good.

We love them so much, but the other three bands playing at the benefit concert were great also!

here are some of my favorite pictures from the night:

my favorite picture of the night:

tor miller band:

grace getting a state award for her involvement with the charity

matt wade

the pictures not great, but my old history teacher brought his two young kids to the concert.
they were so cute and having so much fun!

i'll leave you with some videos from youtube of all the bands at the concert!
check them out.... matt wade is on itunes :)

Music Monday

oh boy oh boy oh boy
what a weekend.

saturday was spent discovering a new college in pennsylvania.
i won't tell you the name (i don't want to jinx anything) but let's just say it might be the one.
i might be living by a farm next year.
oh boy.

i was suppose to participate in the crop walk yesterday.
i mean, i did design our school's banner and everything.
however, a huge art project that was due today took up all my time, and alas, no crop walk was walked.

last night, however, my friend put on a huge charity concert at a nearby music venue.
the show featured some awesome local bands.
i'll do a big post about it this week once i get some pictures back from my friend.

so for now, dear readers, i'll leave you with some new music.
because i am so tired from baking pumpkin chocolate brownies and writing a paper on radioisotopes in medicine.
i like the former better, of course.

and tomorrow i promise to update the foodie blog.
i promise.

alex cornish is my new favorite singer.  his song, the shame, has been stuck in my head all week.
and his other music is amazing as well.
enjoy!

Oh Boy It's August

where has this summer gone?
i must have completely missed the august memo, because i just realized it's here.
scary.

while august always means school is coming closer, i love this month.
few reasons why august makes me happy

1)  it's hot during the day, but cool at night.
2)  i have the whole month off of swimming.  hello finally sleeping in.
3) i now have my car and can drive.
4)  i'm going to greece and turkey in 14 days!

i'm so excited to enjoy this month to the fullest!
life is pretty good right now, i have to say :)

meanwhile- last night i went to the john mayer and train concert
pretty last minute, but i had fun!

train was amazing in person.
like AMAZING

this was my second time seeing john mayer.
i saw him two years ago.
he never fails to disappoint live.
he has a great voice.
however, i must of missed his last album, because I knew none of the songs.
he played a few classics, like
waiting on the world to change
heartbreak warfare
who says

but no free fallin', body is a wonderland, or daughters.
i was kinda upset
but overall it was a good night.

we sat on the lawn at the venue.
it was the same place i went to for jack johnson a few weeks ago,
but lawn seats are a lot of fun and so much cheaper then the seat seats we had last time.
we couldn't get any pics of the performers.
and i didn't have my camera so i have to wait until my friend annie posts hers on facebook to show you pictures of us from the night.
but here are my john mayer pictures from last time:

{pics from john mayer concert 2008}

today is a lazy day, filled with some time with the best friend, some school work, and maybe a run later.
have a great day! xoxo

Father's Day!

Hey, Hey, Hey!  Happy Father's Day Everyone!  I hope you're all celebrating with your dad's.... I did, in a not expected way today.  But that's okay!  Because now that I work part time for him I spend almost every day with him.  Ha!

Anyway, this weekend was interesting.  Not in the creati
vity front, I didn't really have time for that, although right now I am working on a water color piece.  But more on that tomorrow.... today's all about:

The CONCERT!  Which was amazing.  Jack's Mannequin played my favorite songs, like La La Lie, Dark Blue, and Crashin'.  I loved how the band drank beer while singing (which made it super casual) and made it feel really indie and like we were in a small night club, not a huge venue like PNC.

The Fray was the highlight, however.  With super sick lighting and effects and amazing vocals, the entire crowd got into songs like How to Save A Life.  They got the crowd to their feet!

We had awesome seats, about 15 rows from the stage.  My camera died before the Fray went on (of course...) BUT I did get some sweet pics of Jack's Mannequin, as promised.

And, of course, my gorgeous Fray t-shirt
I love concerts like that.  Where you can just close your eyes and sway to the music sometimes and then dance around for others.  The crowd was really fun and the weather was gorgeous.  70 and sunny!  We haven't had that in a long time and we probably won't get it again for a while.

Last night I had movie night with my good friend Kait who I have known since I was little.  I love that girl.

So... I love celebrating days like Mother's and Father's day.  I gave my dad something I made myself, a cheese platter made out of a wine bottle melted in a kiln.  I love giving creative gifts I make myself.

But, today wasn't spent with the family by the pool while cooking BBQ.  I normally don't go into stuff like this on this blog, but I want to because I need everyone who reads this to pray for my uncle, who has a 6 year old daughter and had a heart attack last night.  Today was spent with my family at the hospital.  He's doing great now, but I was a scary morning because three months ago my grandfather died of a heart attack in Florida.  Today is obviously a hard day for my family as it is the first Father's day without him, so my uncle's heart attack made it very hard, especially for my aunt (my grandpa was her father) and my grandma.  So even though he's doing a lot better, a quick prayer would be much appreciated : ).

Okay, heavy stuff is over with. Sorry guys!  Just wanted to let you know so that in case my blogging is sporadic over the next few days, you know why.

Phew.  Okay, here's a funny clip to make everyone feel a lot better!  Have a great Sunday everyone!
