The Hunger Games

the-hunger-games-soundtrack-expected-to-debut-at-number-one
At midnight on Friday morning, I went to see The Hunger Games like just about everyone else in the world did.
The thing was, I had never read the books.  In fact, up until about four or five days beforehand, I had no desire to see the movie.  For all I knew, it was about a bunch of people in an eating contest.

The thing about college, however, is that you're with people constantly.  From the walks to class, to class, to meals, to before bed, to in the library, your friends are with you all the time.  So when they say things like "I'm going at midnight to see.... wanna come?" of course automatically you're like "yeah!" without even really listening to what the movie title was.

That's how I ended up off campus on Friday morning.  And while I have never read the books, let me tell you.

That.  Movie.  Was.  Friggen.  Amazing.
{I'd say best move ever but Harry Potter edges it out just slightly.  Just slightly people."

I'm not joking.  I cried three times, including walking out of the theater partly because I didn't want it to end.  And this is coming from the girl who didn't even read the books.  Imagine how my friend Kate, who had read every single one multiple times, was acting.  If you need me this weekend, I'll be reading every book in the series.

Did you see the movie?  If so, what did you think?

P.S Sorry for my lack of posting.  This weekend we'll have recaps of my Spring Break as well as a March Favorites post as I get back into blogging round 300.  xo

Snow Day, Cupcakes, and Giveaway

yesterday we had a massive snowstorm here.  okay, it wasn't massive where i was but in other parts of jersey it was.
we got 10 inches, which is still a lot.

i stayed inside all day long watching movies and baking cupcakes.  it was amazing.

i watched:
the invention of lying
{funny, but dragged on a bit}

little miss sunshine
{because i'm apparently the only one who never saw it}

and

whip it
{which was AMAZING.  so inspiring.  loved it}

all images google images except first one, taken by me

then, i baked these cupcakes, which are again from martha.

that's the muffin recipe.
to make the glaze, mix 3 T milk and 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar.

oh and i would recommend adding more cinnamon to the topping to make it less floury.
however, they are so good.
i want to add cocoa powder to the batter next time to mix it up a bit!

i haven't updated you on any cute giveaways that are out there in awhile; here is one i'm loving right now:

Christa is hosting an awesome giveaway including an amazing vintage camera at her blog
{i really love that camera.  and the headband.  and the photos.  okay, i love this giveaway}

so i didn't go outside at all yesterday and take pics of the snow... but i'm heading out in a little bit so i'll post some later if i get a chance :)

Baking Cupcakes While Watching a Movie While Taking a BUbble Bath....

so i just came back from seeing Dear John.
it's the only movie i've ever seen on opening day.
i waited all week for the movie.

the verdict?
not bad, not great.

there were some super adorable parts.
some parts the made me go "um, okay"

and, oh yea,
i cried.
the entire movie.
IT WAS SO FREAKING SAD.
google image

like not just a single tear rolling down my check said.
i'm talking bawling sad.
the entire theater was crying.

i actually kind of liked the movie.
it was adorable in many ways.
and yes, i hate the ending.
but i'd say it was worth seeing.
and i recommend checking it out.
(just bring a box of tissues along.  trust me, you'll need it.)

my blog friend Lauren has a thing going on called "Fill in the Blank Friday"
and since today's friday (thank goodness), i thought i'd play along :)

1.  If I had two hours to myself today, I'd hmmm... good question.  it has to be bad that i'm already stumped on the first one.  okay, i'd bake some cupcakes.  or watch a movie.  or take a bubble bath.   better yet, i'd bake cupcakes while watching a movie in a bubble bath.  i don't think that's possible thought......

2.  If I could travel anywhere today, I would go to    Thailand, Africa, Brazil, or Iceland.  .

3.      My wedding day      is something i dream about.  but obviously won't happen for a long time :)

4.  Sometimes you're     strong   other times you're    weak .   somedays i feel like i could conquer the world.  and sometimes all i want to do is cry.  a lot.

5.  Beauty is     confidence.  people are the most beautiful when they are proud of who they are     .

6.  I would be embarassed if anyone knew    some of the songs i have dance parties too    .

7.  Love at first sight is   something i don't really believe in.  yes, you can fall in like with someone at first sight.  but love comes from getting to know that person.  it comes from within   .

hit up her blog and sign up to do your own :)

this weekend i'll be stuck here, snowed in thanks to the 12 inches of snow we're getting.
lots of new blog posts?
i think so :)

Adam

i just watched the most incredible movie i have ever seen.

i have never laughed that hard, cried that hard, or smiled that much because of a movie EVER.

Adam was such an inspiring story.  It was one of those movies you want to watch over and over.  When it ended, tears were streaming down my face and yet I couldn't stop smiling.  It was so incredibly heartwarming.

if you haven't seen it, you need to watch it right now.
it gives you a whole new outlook on life.

plus, the soundtrack is unbelievable.  so many amazing artists.

i'm in such a good mood right now!
happy thursday night to you!!
:)
