I've posted about Rebekah's blog, Goldfish Kiss, before and for good reason: I'm obsessed. She lives in Hawaii and blogs all about her life there, including her obsession with gorgeous bikinis. She also posts hints about how to get a rocking bikini body, because this girl seriously has one. Reading her blog has me searching for homes in Hawaii and planning my move, so beware.
Packing. The Light stuff.
There are two miraculous words to help you pack for any beach vacation... pack light.
After many years of trial and error, I've been able to pack for a 10-12 day trip all in a single carry on, that includes outfit options, and the essentials without having to look like you are wearing the same thing every day. I am rather proud of this accomplishment. So, I thought it would be a good time to share.
Here are a few tips.
• Don't pack many shoes. Pack 1-2 pair of slippers (flip flops, whatever you want to call them) one pair of nice shoes ( optional), and if you want, a pair of running shoes (also optional, I usually workout on the beach on vacation, but they can be useful to stuff valuables in.
• When it comes to having "options", bikinis are the priority. I pack at least 6 bikinis. This is even for small trips. It's what you will be wearing 90% of the time, and they hardly take up any space.
• Clothing suggestions: pack a few pairs of shorts, 2 coverups, a pareo, a cardigan/wrap for the night, some breezy tees and tanks, a nice dress, and some legging for the flight. Really that's all you need. If you can fit more in your carry on, stuff it on in there.
• Buy your sunscreen at your destination. Usually where you go, they will have certain sunscreens that work well with the environment you are in. If you must pack some, try sunscreen wipes like Supergoop, so it can pass TSA.
• At the beach, you just glow, and look naturally beautiful. It's awesome like that. So, leave the full makeup kit at home. Just pack tinted moisturizer, waterproof mascara, lip liner, some gloss and a multi use shimmer lip/cheek/eye thing. (Example: A NARS Multiple.)
• Think of it also as a vacation from having to do your hair. Just bring a leave in conditioner/hair oli and some bobby pins and rubber bands. Time to embrace that messy, salty, wavy, bedhead beachy hair.
• Have your small "personal item" carry-on be your beach bag. Then just pack a small clutch in it for evenings out. No need to pack a bag in your bag.
• Leave the computer at home. Enjoy your time at the beach and save all the screen time, uploading and sharing of pics for when you get home.
• The most important things to pack (other than bikinis): A camera, your sense of adventure, a journal, good book, and a big 'ol permagrin.

Thank you for this. My next vacation is 2 weeks in Tahiti so this will come in handy. :) Mahalos!
