Style Story Sundays- Number 23; Lace Top

I think my style has evolved nicely over the past few years.  I like the clothes I pick out.  Some of my friends comment on how I spend a lot on a single shirt from Free People or Anthropologie.  But here's the thing:  I shop sales like it's my job.  Unless I really really love it, I won't buy it full price.  I also would rather buy one shirt or skirt from a more expensive place like Free People, Anthropologie, or JCrew, then a bunch of cheap shirts from a different store.  I like knowing that most of the things I buy will last me a few years at least.  That's not to say I don't buy cheap pieces.   But I would rather find 15 different ways to wear a single lacey top, then buy 15 different tops to go with different bottoms.  I don't know if that makes much sense, and I'm just talking about my belief, but it's what my mom has always taught me and I think it's a pretty good way to get nice clothes without going overboard.  Of course, there is still plenty of times when I look at an Anthropologie dress and think "Who would ever spend this much on this?".  I'm not ridiculously spending money on things.

Anyway, this may be one of my favorite outfits ever.  On Monday my school had our Senior "Mob Shot". It's where all the Seniors dress up and take their group photos together.
This is what I wore:

{Yes, these were taken in two different spots.}

Lace top:  Free People
Black long sleeve shirt:  Free People
Skirt: JCrew {borrowed from Mom}
Tights: Nordstrom
Shoes:  Tory Burch
Necklace:  Made by me!

This top is new; from my trip to NY last month.  It's amazing.  It's one of those purchases that you think "wow, this was totally worth it".  I love the lace, and the many ways you can wear it.  You can dress it up or wear it to have it look a little more bohemian.  It's beyond perfection.  The skirt is borrowed from my mom.  Now, for the record, my mother is tiny.  This is the only skirt of her's I actually fit into and I don't know how, but because of that, I love it.  The shoes are old, from 3 or 4 years ago.  They are classic black flats, so they were a good investment, because, like I said, they are still being worn 3 or 4 years later.  Now, this necklace is one of the ones I created last weekend.  I'll do a post this week about some of the jewelry I made.  I'll include better pictures of this one, but I am pretty proud of myself!

How's your weekend so far?  I have championships for swimming all weekend, so it's exhausting.  This morning I'm making some home made twix bars before my meet.
Have a great day!

P.S I know I posted about this, but almost 10,000 people were reported dead in Japan as of this morning.  Philanthropy.com posted a list of charities on their site that are helping with the disaster relief.  Check it out if you are inclined! xo
