Heart Day

My mom and dad treated me well today.
Cookies, chocolate, and the cutest Lululemon water bottle surprised me at breakfast.
Amazing, right?

I've always had mixed feelings about Valentine's Day.
On one hand, I never want to be that jaded person that refuses to celebrate a holiday simply because it's all about love.
On the other hand, I never can understand why people freak out over one day.  Shouldn't we all show our love for each other everyday?

Truth be told, I have never been in a relationship on the 14th.
This year, while flowers were delivered around school for girlfriends, I actually got a little sad.
Being fresh out of a very hard breakup, it's hard not to think about the would of, could of, and should of's that result from remembering.

Still, I was determined to focus on the true meaning of love.
Whether you're happily taken or single and ready to mingle, Valentine's Day is about love for your family, friends, pets, significant other....
heck, it could even be about that huge box of chocolates you just bought yourself.
So many people limit themselves to believing V day has to be perfect.  But as long as we're all surrounded by the things that make us happy, that's what counts right?

Today, I'm celebrating my love for:
My mom, who never fails to make me delicious dinners.
My daddy, who wakes up at 5 am to drive me to swim meets, and who always makes me laugh.
My sister, who puts up with my crazy singing in the car everyday.
My best friend, who is always there for me whenever I need her.
My grandparents, who know just how to cheer me up.
My aunts and uncles, who offer sage advice.
My cousins, who offer comic relief.
My swim team, who never fails to keep me entertained.
My dog, who is the best companion any girl can ever ask for.
And, of course, my blog readers, who for some reason keep coming back and leaving loving comments.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
What are you celebrating your love for?
