Say It Now

My dad and I two years ago at Christmas

An hour ago I got an email in my inbox from my pastor at my church.
She said that one of the families who go to my church lost a father and husband this morning.

This family is the family of my childhood friend.
She's my age, and has three younger siblings.
Her dad died this morning suddenly.
He was 49.
One year older then my dad.

This breaks my heart.  This is the second death of one of my friend's fathers in a year.
It gives me the chills.

Life is so freaking short.
It's simply unbelievable.
Do me a favor please?

Go tell your dad you love him.
Give him a hug.
Right now.
Don't wait.
Go tell it to your mom.  your brothers and sisters. your grandparents.  any family.
your friends.

Tell them you love them because right now, my friend isn't getting the chance.
And that makes me cry.

If you could all send a quick prayer to the family.  They are the sweetest and would appreciate it.
That's all for now.
