In Loving Memory of My Grandpa

one of my blogger friends, the life of a cupcake, posted this poem on her blog and i had to share it with you.

as many of you know, it's my first christmas without my grandfather, who passed away from a heart attack in february over president's day weekend. 

he was the smartest guy i have ever known and had so much love for everyone who he met. 

him and my grandma were married for over 40 years and they are the reason i believe love still exists in the world.

i am so blessed to have had my grandfather in my life for as long as i did, and i only wish i had more time with him.

i'm sitting in his home right now, on the same computer he once used.  it's bringing up a ton of emotions.

i never got a chance to say goodbye.

he called me on a friday night.  we talked and he told me he loved me.  it was almost like he knew something was going to happen.

on sunday, my family got word he had had a heart attack and was in a coma.

he died on a thursday.

i never got to say goodbye.

so here we go.

dear pop,

thank you for the 15 years i got to share with you.  you pushed me to work hard and everything i know about success comes from you and your son, my dad.  you loved and influenced to many people.  i miss you everyday, but we all continue to see your influence on this world wherever we go.

i remember your jokes.  your laugh. 

watching jeopardy with you when i was little.

sitting in your favorite chair.

going out to dinners.

going to the beach. 

i love you so much.

merry christmas, grandpa. 

i'll never forget you.

Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless CHRISTMAS TREES around the world below

with tiny lights like HEAVEN’S STARS reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so SPECTACULAR please wipe away that tear

for I am spending CHRISTMAS WITH JESUS CHRIST this year.

I hear the many CHRISTMAS SONGS that people hold so dear

but the SOUND OF MUSIC can't compare with the CHRISTMAS CHOIR up here.

I have no words to tell you of the JOY their voices bring

for it is beyond description to HEAR THE ANGELS SING.

I know HOW MUCH YOU MISS ME, I see the pain inside your heart

for I am spending CHRISTMAS WITH JESUS CHRIST this year.

I can't tell you of the SPLENDOR or the PEACE here in this place

Can you just imagine CHRISTMAS WITH OUR SAVIOR face to face

I'll ask him to LIFT YOUR SPIRIT as I tell him of your love

so then PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER as you lift your eyes above.

Please let your HEARTS BE JOYFUL and let your SPIRIT SING

for I am spending CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN and I’m walking WITH THE KING.
